The narrative of Crowley and Aziraphale, who developed an unexpected friendship over the period of six thousand years, is continued in the second season of Prime Video’s “Good Omens.” They banded together in the first season to avert Armageddon by thwarting the rise of the Anti-Christ. They have another potential conflict between Heaven and Hell to avert in the second chapter of their tale. This time, it starts when a naked Gabriel shows up at Aziraphale’s door.
Archangel Gabriel had a reputation for being a bad manager who insisted on following the rules to the letter. The angel is so perplexed when he unexpectedly appears in front of Aziraphale and decides to investigate the matter, even if it may put him in danger. In the end, it turns out that Beelzebub and Gabriel’s love for one another is what sparked the whole catastrophe. What happens to them at the conclusion of Season 2 of “Good Omens”? Do they ultimately get along? Let’s investigate. Spoilers follow.
Do Gabriel and Beelzebub End Up Together?
For countless years, Heaven and Hell had been at odds with one another. Even while there were covert routes through which they might communicate and frequently cooperate to achieve a common objective, such as Armageddon, friendship between them was never a consideration. Because of this, when the truth about Crowley and Aziraphale’s cooperation was revealed, they were chastised and expelled from Heaven and Hell, respectively. It’s a thousand times worse with Gabriel and Beelzebub.
When Armageddon doesn’t happen as expected, Beelzebub and Gabriel meet in private to discuss the implications for their respective positions. They eventually talk about how nobody understands them and supports them, and how they are misunderstood. It’s considerably more complicated than merely doing what their followers desire, but that’s what leaders are expected to do. Despite agreeing to not see one other again, they keep running into each other since they are so similar.
Meetings between Beelzebub and Gabriel are never made public. They are aware of the commotion it will generate if Heaven and Hell learn about it. They discuss a wide range of topics at their sessions, including music and sculptures. As their love for one another grow over time, Gabriel declines to support the other Archangels’ motion for a second Armageddon. Being the ruler of both Heaven and Hell, he and Beelzebub, he does not want to go to war. But his superiors aren’t pleased, so they put him on trial, taking away his authority and transforming him into a low-level angel. Gabriel runs away before that can happen.
Finally, Gabriel admits that he and Beelzebub are in love with one another and desire to be one another when his memories return. This has angered both Heaven and Hell, and they each demand their share of the flesh. Aziraphale advises them to find out what Gabriel and Beelzebub desire instead of punishing them the way they see fit. Gabriel claims that he desires Beelzebub’s company and nice attire. Wherever she is, it is His Heaven. In a similar vein, Beelzebub acknowledges that her Hell is wherever Gabriel is since she wants to be with him.
Gabriel is warned by Michael that there will be no turning around once he departs. He won’t get another chance to enter heaven. Beelzebub is forewarned of the anger of the forces of Hell, but she points out how understaffed Hell is, making her less concerned. Crowley offers they travel to Alpha Centauri, saying that it is a beautiful place at this time of year. Whether Beelzebub and Gabriel heed his counsel is unknown, but they vanish as they sing their tune, which Gabriel played repeatedly in the Scottish pub. No matter where they go, they will be together, and that is what counts to them. They won’t go back to Heaven or Hell.
