Daniel “Colt” McCoy, a quarterback with the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals, was born on September 5, 1986. (NFL). He participated in collegiate football at Texas, where as a senior in 2009, he received a number of accolades and trophies. Kellen Moore of Boise State is McCoy’s closest competitor all-time in terms of games won by an NCAA Division I FBS quarterback. In the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns. He has also played for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and San Francisco 49ers, largely as a backup quarterback.

In New Mexico’s Hobbs, McCoy was born. He is the oldest of Steven Brad McCoy and Debra Kay (Woodruff) McCoy’s three children. His father served as his football coach at Jim Ned High School, which has a student body of 714 and is located in Tuscola, Texas. As a high school athlete, he won numerous honors, including two Associated Press 2A Offensive MVP awards and first-team all-state recognition.
